Samir is a Partner at Shorooq Partners where he leads the initiative to establish the first dedicated venture debt practice in MENA, which to date has already gained regulatory approval. Prior to joining Shorooq he founded and led Autarky Advisors and its finance arm, Autarky Capital, the latter which recently got bought out following significant interest in the venture debt space. He has held roles in strategy, private equity, Islamic finance, and venture building in various companies such as E&Y, KKR, family offices and his own ventures. His academic background is in engineering and economics where he holds an MSc. from the Imperial College London and received the Jonathan Ziman Memorial Award and the Applied Economics Award for this thesis amongst others. He is entirely devoted to the region with a strong bias towards the Saudi eco-system.
